We grabbed a train from Munich to Florence... passing through the Austrian alps on the way. We spent a lot of the time in the restaurant car enjoying the scenery.
There were a lot of castles sitting on hilltops as we went through the mountains.
We arrived in Florence and went to our hotel, which is near the station so we didn't have far to walk. We have a private balcony with the view below from our balcony... hard to take.
We walked about 5 minutes into the centre of town and enjoyed seeing the Duomo with its white red and green marble.
There are a lot of sculptures in the city ... many from the 15th century.
And of course markets to be shopped at. Jen bought a leather bag/ backpack.
There are gelati shops on every street corner so jen asked for a small ice cream... pictured below.
The view from our hotel room in the early morning.....
We finally found the right car for Jen.
Inside the Duomo is fairly plain but the roof is pretty special.
We walked to Ponte Vecchio which is a 14th century bridge lined with Jewelry shops... yes Jen is now the proud owner of new jewelry.
This is Davo by Michelangelo (this is a copy but we did see the real one)
And it rained .... but just meant we retreated to cafes and ate pizza, pasta and other such things....
Off to Positano today on the Amalfi Coast....
