Octoberfest ... where else would you want to be?

Well here we are in Munich... and by the way it just happens to be the middle of the two weeks of Octoberfest and the place is amazing.....we caught a local train through the mountains from Titisee and the scenery was fabulous as you can see from the pics below.....

 Our hotel in Munich is about 200 metres from the train station and is really super modern and quite amazing.

We had no idea it was Octoberfest until we arrived and everyone is wearing traditional bavarian clothes (shorts and braces seem to be the go even though its very very chilly.

So on our first night here we walked a few blocks to Octoberfest and wow what an amazing place... a combination of the ekka and some sort of crazy party.

There are lots of beer halls so we dived right into the one in this photo.  It was packed with people singing, drinking, clapping, standing on tables ... the usual Octoberfest stuff, so we managed to find a couple of seats on a bench with some local guys.

Jen couldn't stop drinking the beer...(actually I did have to help a little and managed two of the small ones pictured below)...

And of course we needed a pretzel to keep the beer company.....

The place was crazy packed with people and there was a band playing in the middle of it all...

And of course getting up on top of the table and dancing, singing etc is just part of the tradition...

Outside the beer halls is a fun fair with rides etc....

We went on some sort of traditional ghost ride thing... was a bit of fun....

Jen and I got to shoot a crossbow at targets (Iwon) ... then I went shooting pellets and moving targets and won jen some souvenirs...

Today we have organised a full day tour to Neuschwanstein castle etc... and then tomorrow we have booked a half day tour to Dachau ...

At some stage we will wander into the old part of Munich... which is just a few blocks in the other direction to Octoberfest...
